Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone.  It is supposed to be a really nice day today.  Even though Dave took the day off today, he still went into work this morning to do a few things.  I guess since he wore jeans and a sweatshirt he feels like he is taking the day off even though he is going in anyway.  He should be home in a few hours.  I think we will take a nice walk today since it is supposed to be around 71 degrees.

I am not dressing Samuel up in a costume this year, but I did get him a cute Halloween outfit (including socks!).  I posted some pictures below.  Today he was in no mood for me to be taking pictures.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend.  I will post if I have time.

Thursday?

I can't believe it is already Thursday.  Dave is taking tomorrow off and I am really excited.  He never takes time off, so hopefully we can have a relaxing morning and then go to the gym.  My parents are coming in tomorrow too.  They get in around 1:30.  I think the plan is to go to the Art Museum since it is free on Fridays.  We will see if Samuel will cooperate.

I slept so hard last night.  Samuel woke up around 12:30, but Dave went in his room and he was back asleep in only a few minutes.  I don't think I moved after that.  Dave's alarm went off (he says several times) and I didn't hear it at all.  I am tired this morning, but I finally feel like I got some sleep.  So nice!

It is supposed to be pretty nice today, I think I will take Samuel for a walk.  I am also going to try to bake some Halloween cookies.   The neighbors kids are the only ones that come to our house, so I figured I would make them a special treat instead of candy.

Here are some pictures from last night.  Samuel is getting so big, I can't believe it.  He is also trying to "give me 5" now.  Dave took some pictures, not sure if you can tell.

What a night

Well last night Samuel slept great.  If it wasn't one of my babies keeping me up, it was the other.  Yesterday George had her teeth cleaned and they told us that she may not feel well and may throw up.  Boy did she.  I woke up in the morning and let her out because her stomach was making lots of noises and she was not able to sit still.  After I let her out and then back in and then got back into my nice warm cozy bed, she started acting like she was going to throw up again.  This time I ran down stairs, let her out and then turned the light on in the dining room. When she gets sick it is normally by the back door and under our dining room table.  Anyway, when I turned the light on I almost started gagging myself.  She threw up about 7 times under the table.  So at 5 this morning both Dave and I were scrubbing the carpet under the table.  We gave her a pain pill and an antibiotic that was prescribed by the vet.  We gave it to her with bread and some peanut butter.   Within 5 minutes she had thrown all that up too.  I have never seen something so disgusting as regurgitated bread and pills.  I won't even go into the description.  She has been going out every 10 minutes this morning probably to throw up and eat grass.  What a morning.

Samuel slept in until 8 this morning.  It was so nice.  When he woke up he was in a great mood.  Here are some pictures:

Yesterday, because I felt so crappy, I decided that I needed some retail therapy.  I bought a mandolin (you know for in the kitchen and it cuts things perfectly), sheets, an apple peeler and best of all a running watch (thanks Megan for the suggestion).  Dave said he was expecting me to have a need to shop since I wasn't feeling so great.

Today I had to take George in to get her teeth cleaned.  There were tons of dogs when I dropped her off and I was holding Samuel and wrestling with George.  It must have been a very funny sight.  A lady who was holding her very clam and obedient dog asked me if I needed help.  Everyone else was looking at me, but I have to say George was not the worst dog in the group there were many others, but I also had a kid to deal with.

We have to pick her up this evening.  I feel bad for her because she has no idea what she was getting herself into and she was super excited about it.

Samuel is just now waking up.  Got to run.

Short weekend

I had a great but very fast and short weekend.  On Friday night Megan came in town (thanks Megan!!) and we had a great time.  We went to a wine bar and drank WAY too much.  We weren't functioning that well on Saturday.  We ate lots of food, hung out and watched 27 Dresses. What a great chick flick.  I loved it, but wouldn't dare make Dave even attempt to watch it.  He would have been gagging the whole time.  The weekend flew by and then it was Sunday night.

I'm sure you all want to hear this part, but I started my period on Sunday night.  It has been 17 months since my last one and I wasn't really ready for it to come back.  Plus, I am doing the half marathon on Sunday, so hopefully it will be gone.  I am really tired, cranky, bloated and nauseous...it is a great combination.  I am going to take it easy today because I am feeling so worn out.

Last night Jonathan and Laura came over for dinner.  It was nice to have them over.  Samuel loves to see them.

Samuel pulled up on the ottoman this weekend by himself and now he wants to pull up on everything.

Here are some pictures from the weekend.  Samuel has started do this fake smile thing where he over exaggerates his smile.  It is pretty funny.

He wasn't happy with having his toys in the basket, so he decided to just dump it over.  He was pretty proud of himself.

Here is Samuel and Megan.  Sorry not a very good picture, but I was super hung over when I took this.

It is super cold now and this is the only hat he will keep on:

This is the fake smile:

Ready for the weekend and Rant

I am so ready for the weekend.  My wonderful friend Megan is coming in town.  I am so excited for girl time.  Dave is going to watch Samuel tonight, so I will really get a girls night out.  I'm so in need of that.

I got a flu shot two days ago and my arm is still sore.  I don't know what is up with this years flu shot, but it seems like it has really bothered people this year.

Pretty sure Samuel is teething again.  He was out of control cranky in the afternoon and at night.  We thought for sure he was getting sick, but I looked in his mouth last night and the gum line on the other side of his left fang was very red and swollen.  He still hasn't gotten his middle teeth, so it should be interesting if he gets more teeth on the sides.  We will see.

Grey's last night was okay.  I'm just not really into this season.  It isn't as exciting as it used to be.  I wish it would get better, but I think it is beyond the point of having any potential to be good.   So sad.

I need to go shopping for boots.  I want black and brown and I need them soon.  I have heard form a lot of people that their feet grew when they were pregnant, but I am not kidding you, my feet shrunk.  All of my shoes are too big.  I wish that happened to the rest of my body.  So the point is, I need more shoes.  I guess that isn't a bad thing!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Finally

I finally got some of the photos to post.  Samuel is luckily down for his second nap and I am relaxing.  I went shopping this morning and I think it wore him out.  I have been really wanting to get a sewing machine and luckily there was one on sale at Target and I bought it.  Hopefully I will have time to set it up soon.

Here are some pics of Samuel:

Yesterday, I let George out and Samuel wanted to know where she went, so he crawled over to the door and the two of them were looking at each other.  It was pretty funny.

So, I know this looks gross, but Samuel had beets for the first time yesterday.  It looks like blood all over his face, but it isn't, just beets.  We really could dress him up as Dracula, with beets all over his face and his two fangs in, he does look a little like a vampire.  Anyway, he LOVED the beets.  We joke about the food that he likes, because I love beets and Dave hates them, I love sweet potatoes and Dave hates them, I love butternut squash and Dave hates them.  Anyway the list goes on and on.  Samuel has my taste in food.

I think I am going to play a little Wii while he is sleeping.  I haven't done that in a long time.  What I really want is a huge glass of wine.  It is 12:38 pm, is that too early to start drinking?

Frustrating

I have been trying to download pictures for the last 2 days and for some reason it is giving me an error every time.  I don't know what the deal is but it is really annoying.  I guess I will try again later.

I am tired and cranky this morning.  Samuel is very demanding and needy this morning and I am in no mood to deal with him.  I think he will be taking an early nap today.  He was wide awake at 6.  Way too early for me.

I am off to try to put him to bed.

Busy weekend

I haven't posted in a while because we have been super busy.  Here is the run down:

  • Oma and Opa came in town this past weekend (Lots of fun!)
  • Dave and I went out on Saturday night from 4:30 pm until 12:30 am.  Very long night and lots of fun.  We went to the Casino and had a blast and we won a little money which made it even better.
  • Samuel is back to sleeping terrible.  Having more teeth coming in really screwed up his good night sleeps, so we are back to letting him cry.  Not so good for our sleeping.
  • Got my hair cut and colored yesterday.  I had her color it darker since it is winter and I love it.  It is very close to my normal hair color, which I haven't seen in a LONG time.
Time to go make dinner.  I know it is early but I am making chili so I am going to start it now, so it can cook all day.

Lots of Pictures

Well the season finale of Project Runway was on last night.  Dave was right, Leanne won.  I was really happy she won.  I loved her collection.

It is a chilly 45 degrees right now.  It isn't supposed to get higher then 61 today.  Perfect for pancakes for dinner.  I know that was a random thought, but I have been craving pancakes for weeks now, so Dave and I decided that was what we were going to have for dinner tonight.  We are supposed to eat salad and healthy stuff all day today so we don't feel guilty about eating pancakes tonight.

Here are some pictures from yesterday:

Now that Samuel is mobile, our house looks like a disaster area.  After he got done destroying the living, he decided to take a break and watch TV:

Samuel was trying to eat the camera:

Dave says this is his drunk picture:

and this is his mug shot, but I just think he looks so freakin' cute:

Samuel has been making noises like an owl lately "woo woo", so I took a picture of him doing it:

This was last night in the bath.  Check out his amazing hair:

Happy 30th Birthday Hubby!

It is Dave's birthday today.  We are now both 30, crazy!  We love you, Dave.

Here is a picture from the weekend.  Thanks for the hat, Charisa.

Here is another picture of Samuel, he is a drooling manic.

Happy Monday

Normally I don't look forward to Monday coming, but today is different because it still feels like the weekend since Dave is home. Dave slept in this morning and then we ran errands.

Dave had a very nice birthday party on Saturday.  We ate lots of food and played Wii.  Tonight I am making him a birthday dinner.  Tomorrow we are starting back on our health food diet.  After all the junk food we ate all weekend we are in some serious need of veggies and no carbs.

We bought baby gates today for the stairs.  Samuel is mobile.  He still does a modified military crawl.  It is half way between military crawling and real crawling, but he has become very fast.  If there is a toy he wants to get to or if he wants to get to George he can really work his legs and arms.  It is pretty funny.  George wasn't too happy when he found her tail, grabbed on and wouldn't let go.  I'm excited that he is moving around, but I can't really leave him in the room now alone.  Even if I leave him in a sitting position, by the time I come back in the room he is on his stomach and on the move.  It is amazing that in one week he went from slowly pulling himself around to being super speedy.

He is starting to wake up, so I am off.

Long Weekend

I'm so happy it is Friday and a long weekend.  Dave is off on Monday and we are excited to relax.  I am having a little birthday party for Dave tomorrow night which should be a lot of fun.  I have to make his favorite carrot cake tomorrow.

Samuel and I have lots of cleaning and grocery shopping to do today.

Yesterday Samuel discovered the floor vents.  Today I left him on the floor and I turned around and he was working his way towards the vent.  Not only does he think that they feel really cool with his fingers, he also likes to lick them, which I think is so disgusting.  I think I need to go around and clean them all just in case.  Here are some pictures of his this morning:

He wasn't too happy when I pulled him away from the vents:

"Hey, what the hell?"
"What?"
"Hey baby, how you doin'?"

Up at the crack of dawn

We have been up since 5:15 this morning. I don't know if Samuel was just cold, teething or what, but he woke up at 5:15 and wouldn't go back to sleep. I figured I needed to get him when he started yelling "Mama". I brought him into our room and I hoped that after I fed him he would go back to sleep, but he didn't. He just rolled around the bed and babbled.

The good thing about getting up so early is that I made Dave and I coffee, unloaded the dishwasher, loaded the dishwasher and gathered up all the trash for trash day. I feel like it has been a successful morning so far. I am taking George to doggie daycare today. She doesn't get nearly enough exercise and I feel terrible, so in about an hour I will take to have a day of play. I am hoping that I can do some serious house cleaning while she is gone.

I am a little depressed. I have been running at least 2 miles everyday and I am not losing a pound. I think I actually gained a pound. Next week after Dave's birthday party we are going back on our "diet". We feel so sick, so it is time to go back to eating lots of veggies.

Samuel just crawled his way onto George's bed in the basement and George is not happy. She was just pushing him off with her feet and Samuel is going back for more. I guess he just doesn't get it. It is a funny sight.

Here are some more of Samuel's 7 month pictures. I haven't gotten any developed yet. Hopefully I will get to that today.

Getting SO Big

Yesterday we had to lower Samuel's crib again to the lowest setting. He is able to pull himself in his crib, but we weren't worried about it because he had never been able to go from lying down to a sitting position on his own. But then yesterday Dave got home from work and Samuel was napping, when he woke up Dave went upstairs to get him and he was sitting up in his crib. We were amazed. So we figured it was time to lower the crib again.

Lets see, lots of things have happened with Samuel in the last few days besides what I mentioned above. Another tooth is coming in on top, however the top middle teeth are not coming in. The teeth coming in are on either side of the middle teeth, so once they come in, he is going to have some serious fangs and probably look really funny.

Samuel has learned how to wave. I noticed the funniest thing yesterday. I normally watch a little bit of the Today Show in the mornings. You know how they scan the crowd outside and they are normally waving at the camera. Well, I was watching Samuel watching the TV and all of the sudden he lifted his hand up and started waving at the TV. I thought that maybe it was a fluke, but then today he was watching the TV and the people started waving at the camera and he was back to waving at the TV. It was really funny.

Samuel is also talking and babbling like crazy. We were at the grocery store this morning and he started babbling so loudly almost yelling. I have no idea what he is trying to say, but he sure is animated about it. He has been saying mama for a long time now, but now he is actually calling my name when I am not in the room. After he wakes up from all of his naps, instead of just making noises, he starts yelling "mama, mama". He already has me wrapped around his finger.

Well, I am going to run a few miles on the treadmill while he is sleeping.

I have a 7 month old

Samuel and I went to Kansas City this weekend and he did an awesome job on the drive.  We only had a stop a few times on the way there and only once on the way back.  He really likes John Mayer and Leona Lewis.  I swear he was singing in the back seat.

Samuel turned 7 months on Sunday.  I can't believe how big he is getting.  On his 7 month birthday he decided that he was ready to military crawl.  So that is what he has been doing to get to his toys and across the room.  He is starting to propel himself forward when he is on his hands and knees, so I think crawling may be coming soon.  I can't believe it.

When we were in Kansas City, it was so nice for my grandparents to see Samuel.  They were so happy.  Here are some pictures.  You can just see the happy looks on their faces.
