Ugh, it's Monday

I can't believe the weekend is already over.  Luckily Dave only had a three day week, so we can hang out all weekend long.

We got Samuel a small play laptop.  He always wants to bang on ours and we didn't want him to break it somehow, so we got him his own.  On Sunday morning, I was checking my email and Samuel brought his laptop to me and we sat together working on our laptops.

After we eat yogurt, we usually let George lick out the container.  Samuel has never showed an interest giving her the yogurt container until this morning.  He was so excited that I let him give her the container.

Have a great Monday everyone.

It has been so freaking hot around here.  Today it is still in the 80's and it is 9am, so today is a good day so far.  I haven't been able to exercise at all because it is just way too hot.  I could go to the gym, but I don't really have much desire.  We went to pool yesterday and it was so nice to be in the water, but it was terrible getting out.

Samuel and I were watering the plants on the deck and I didn't even think about putting his shoes on him.  Bad idea, after just a few minutes walking around on the deck he started screaming and I realized that his little feet were burning.  I felt terrible.  Although his feet were burning, he still threw a fit when I tried to bring him inside.

Yesterday, Samuel went and sat by George while he was trying to sleep.  He was so excited and happy with himself.

I am a little behind, but here are some pictures of Samuel and Dave on Father's Day:

Samuel language

Sometimes it is difficult to decipher exactly what Samuel is trying to say, since his language skills are not the greatest yet.  He has this call that we all know is his call for George.  I have been trying to figure out exactly what he is saying when he is calling her.  Well, last night he was on the couch calling George and I figured it out.  When he yells George, it sounds exactly like he is yelling "Bob".  I guess he has decided to rename George - Bob.  I don't think George will ever get a girl name.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.  Samuel is bringing me book after book, so I guess I better read to him.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to our two wonderful fathers.  Also a special fathers day to my husband who is an amazing dad to Samuel.

We had a full house for the past 3 days.  My parents and Dave's parents came in town starting on Wednesday night.  Dave and I took our dads to the Cardinals/Tigers baseball game.  We had great seats and we were actually not that hot.  It was a great evening.  The grandmothers took care of Samuel for the evening and we had a great night.  On Friday night we had a big Father's Day dinner.  The heat really wore us all out, so we all went to bed early.  Everyone left on Saturday.  Today we are celebrating Father's Day with just the three of us.

I am pretty sure we are going to brunch, as soon as Dave wakes up (I'm letting him sleep in this morning).  I thought I was going to make BBQ brisket sandwiches and a veggie casserole for dinner, but yesterday Dave said he changed his mind.  So hopefully once he wakes up he can tell me what he wants for dinner.

On Friday morning and Saturday morning, I ran 5 miles.  The humidity and heat was so terrible on Friday morning.  I felt terrible.  It took me an hour to do the 5 miles.  Then on Saturday, Dave and I ran together and we did it in 54.30 minutes.  I cut my time by 6 and a half minutes.  Even though the humidity and heat were a little lower on Saturday, I think just running with another person made it so much easier.  We are slowly trying to increase our mileage.  We will see.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Storms and more storms

It seems like the entire month of June it has been raining.  Another huge storm is about to go through.  It is hard to do anything when the weather is so bad.  I think the rain, puts Samuel in a bad mood too.  He was not happy today when he woke up.  He is already down for a morning nap because he just wouldn't stop crying.  His poor mouth looks terrible.  Two teeth have cut threw and the other two gum areas are white and swollen.  Ouch.  I can't imagine cutting teeth.

I am not sure what we are going to do today, but hopefully the rain will slow down this afternoon so we can run some errands.

Here are some pictures from last Thursday before Samuel and I went to the pool.  He was all decked out in swim gear.

Here are some pictures from the wedding this past weekend.

And the week begins

We were in Cincinnati for the weekend for John Ashcraft's wedding.  We had a great time.  It was the first time in a long time that our whole group was able to hang out without kids.  Oma came for the weekend to hang out with Samuel.  I know they had a great time except that on Saturday night Samuel got a fever and was up all night.  Although I wished I was home with him, since he wasn't feeling great, I knew he was getting the best care he could get.

When we got home yesterday he was attached to me.  He has four teeth coming in, so I know he is miserable.  Last night he was up every hour until about 11:30.  Finally I just brought him into bed and he slept for a good 3 or 4 hours.  I think it was around 4 am that I gave him more Tylenol and put him back in his bed.  It is now 9 am and he is just starting to wake up.  I have had a nice morning getting things organized for the week.

Today, Samuel and I are going with Jonathan and Laura to Crown Candy Kitchen for an early lunch.  I have been there one time and it was yummy.

Savta, Papa, Oma and Opa are coming in on Thursday to celebrate Father's Day weekend.  Dave and I are taking the dads to the Cardinals vs Tigers baseball game on Thursday night.  Should be lots of fun.

I am off to get Samuel and to start our day.

Finally no rain, I think

It was supposed to rain off and on all day today and I was no excited about being stuck in the house.  But, I just looked at weather.com and it looks like there is no rain in the forecast.  As soon as Samuel gets up from his nap, we are going to head to the pool.  First time to the pool this season.  I'm not so excited about my beach body, but whatever, who hasn't seen some blinding white legs and arms, cellulite and stretch marks (and I'm talking about on my butt and legs.  Yes, people I am quite a sight).   I did get a new bathing suit at Land's End.  It fits perfectly.  They are having a great sale on suits and I just bought another one piece, the total was $13.00.  They have free shipping codes all the time, so that made it a great deal.

I can't believe that Samuel is up already, but I guess we will head out.  Maybe I will post a video of something later.

Pictures from Tulsa

Samuel is started to be out of control.  We went to his 15 month appointment yesterday.  He got three shots, but handled it really well.  He weights 28 pounds (93%) and is 33 in (94%).  He is a big guy.  When I was talking to his pediatrician, I told him that Samuel has started to scream, I mean ear piercing screams and most of the time it is when we are at a restaurant trying to enjoy a nice dinner.  Samuel's doctor said that this is normal behavior and that we just shouldn't plan on having long dinners out unless we want screaming to occur.  Not the greatest advice, because Dave and I like to go out to dinner.  We will just see how it goes.

When we were at dinner one night in Tulsa, he screamed his ear piercing scream.  I looked him directly in his eyes and told him to be quiet and that his behavior was not funny.  First he looked at me with a pouty face, lower lip pushed out and his eyes welled up a little bit and then his burst out laughing.  Not just a little snicker, a full out laugh.  That little shit knew exactly what I was saying and he thought it was hilarious.  We then quickly inhaled our food and left before more screaming continued.

Here are some pictures from the week:

Tired

It is hard to get back into the grove of things around here.  We had a great time in Tulsa.  The week went by quickly.  We were there an entire week and I didn't even yell and scream at my parents once.

On both drives up to Tulsa and back to St. Louis, I tried to leave in the afternoon so that Samuel would take his afternoon nap and it would be a somewhat easy drive.  Well, both ways he only slept 30 minutes.  He normally takes at least a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.  I thought we would be terrible, but he was actually great.  He sat in the back and looked around, jammed to the music and thankfully we have the video player in our car and he loved it.  He doesn't ever watch movies, so when  I popped in one 45 minute movie each way and he was really happy.  By the way, I really hate Thomas the Train.  He is an annoying little shithead.  Those videos annoyed the crap out of me and I wanted to kill Thomas.  I don't know if it was because I was stuck in the car, but my goodness, he totally sucks.

So while we were in Tulsa, we ate tons of fish.  Dave doesn't like to eat fish, so when I go to visit my parents that is what we try to eat.  Samuel loved everything we gave to him.

My mom and I went on a few really nice long walks.  One morning we headed out with Samuel and George for a 4 mile walk.  Exactly halfway through it started raining.  My mom took Samuel to the golf course locker room and I had to run about a mile and a half home to get the car.  I was pretty impressed that I made it home in great time, soaking wet and freezing, but in great time.

The entire trip was nice and relaxing and it is hard to get going again around here.

Today I have to take Samuel to his 15 month doctor's appointment.  More shots.  I am going to get us ready to go.

Happy Birthday Megan!

I had to post this before my day got so busy I didn't have time.  Happy  Birthday to one of my oldest and closest friends, Megan!  I hope you have a great day today.

I will post later about my trip to Tulsa.  I have to feed Samuel breakfast and feed myself.  More later.
