Another Doctor's Appointment

I took Samuel to the doctor again this morning because he has had a cough for a while.  Everything is fine, he just has a little bit of a cold.  No ear infections thank goodness.  Nothing is really wrong with him except he has to get rid of that cough.

We were very disappointed by Top Chef last night.  Dave swears that he will never watch the show again because he hated Hosea so much.  I am mad at Carla for listening to Casey.  Dude she didn't win, so why would you listen to her.  Anyway, we are a little bitter in the Glasser household.

I am off to make a grocery list.

One week from today Samuel will be 1.  Crazy.

Old and New

My mom emailed this picture to me.  This was Samuel's 11 month picture and me on my 1st birthday.  Do you think we look alike?  Kind of crazy.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

We have been pretty busy around the Glasser household.  Now that Samuel is walking, he wants to be everywhere.  It is pretty cool to see this little person walking around the house.  He is so happy with himself too.

Last night was Samuel and Dave's last swimming class.  We haven't decided if we are going to do it again next month or the month after.  Samuel really enjoyed it.

For those of you that know me well you will find this pretty funny.  Sometimes Samuel does things that let me know that he is 100% my kid.  We got home from swimming last night and we were all eating dinner.  Dave and I were talking about how we were full and it looked like Samuel was too.  I started to clear the dishes off the table and we took Samuel out of his highchair.  While I was loading the dishes in the dishwasher, Samuel came strolling into the kitchen and went to his favorite drawer filled with Tupperware.  He looked up at me, unbuttoned and unzipped his pants and let out a big sigh, smiled at me and went back to playing in the drawer.  I started laughing and told Dave.  Dave said, what did I expect, he was just like us, he ate too much, couldn't fit in his pants anymore and needed to unbutton and unzip his pants to feel comfortable.  We thought it was hilarious.

Well, I am off to do a few things while he is asleep.  Enjoy your day everyone.

Today is the Day!

Samuel is walking!!!!!  He took about 20 steps this morning and he hasn't stopped walking since then.  He just walked form the living room to the dining room where I was posting.  I am so excited.

That is going to be our excitement for the weekend.

New Fridge

We got our new fridge yesterday. So far it is great. The ice machine is working and it is filling up. I love it.

I went to a workout class last night.  It is called PUMP.  I used to take it when I was in law school and I loved the class.  It is 45 minutes of weight training.  I used really light weights because I didn't want to kill myself.  I was a little sore yesterday, but not too bad.  This morning when I woke up my body hurts a bit, but not too bad.  I feel really good though.  I didn't want to kill myself and not be able to lift or walk today.

I am feeding Samuel breakfast.  He is loving soy breakfast sausage links.  I can't give it to him fast enough.  He really loves all my vegetarian food.

Have a great Friday.

Back to Normal

Samuel was so tired from not getting my sleep the night before and not taking very good naps.  He went to bed last night around 7 and didn't make a sound until 5:15 this morning.  I went in and fed him and he went back to bed until about 6:45.  It has been a pretty good morning.  We have just been playing.  The weather is getting colder, so we haven't really gone out this morning.  I took George to doggie day care because she was barking at me non stop and I really didn't feel like dealing with a barking dog all day.  Hopefully she is having fun playing.

So this afternoon, I asked Samuel if he knew where Savta, Papa and Oma and Opa were. He climbed on the cough and looked at their pictures on the fireplace. I then told him to tell them hello and this is what he did: (I thought the grandparents would like this picture.)

Here are some pictures for the day:

We are getting our new refrigerator tomorrow morning.  We have been living with a broken fridge for a while.  The ice machine hasn't worked in probably a few years now.  I will take a picture of it tomorrow.  We would have gotten a stainless steel one, but it doesn't go with our kitchen and we weren't about to replace all the appliances.  So, we ended up getting another white one.  It should be really nice though.  I am really looking forward to it.

Pictures from the weekend

Up too Early

It is 6 am and I am up.  I have been up for over an hour.  Samuel woke up a little before 5 and normally I can go in his room and rock him a little bit and he falls back asleep until after 7, but he was wide awake this morning.  Dave left this morning to go to the gym and I was planning to get up and run on the treadmill downstairs, but of course my plans changed.  Now I am feeding Samuel breakfast and drinking some coffee.

We had a nice but busy weekend.  My parents came in town to visit.  I will try to post some pictures later.  Dave and I also got another date night on Saturday night.  We went to dinner at Terrene in the Central West End and then we went to a movie.  We saw "He Is Just Not That Into You."  It was a very girlie movie.  So obviously I liked it, but I would have enjoyed it so much more if I had gone with a group of girls and not Dave.  I could see him rolling his eyes as he sat next to me.  He will deny that he was, but I know he was.  I told him that I won't make him see anymore girl movies at the movie theatre (and in return, I am not seeing any stupid boy movies).  It just ruins the movie.  We had a really great time though.  We laughed at how stupid the movie was and how much I liked it.

Well, I am going to finish feeding Samuel breakfast.

Oh, Samuel went down the stairs yesterday on his own.

Freezing

Yesterday was such a beautiful day.  We spent a lot of time outside and now it is just gross here.  It is cold and rainy.  It seems like every time I went outside today there was a downpour.  I will be staying inside for a while.

Samuel has been sleeping terribly the last few nights.  I don't know what his deal is, but I am tired.  Hopefully tonight he will sleep better.  The entire family needs a good rest.

Here he is at the park yesterday:

He preferred to eat the leaves, rather then playing on the playground.

Fish Face:

I was messing around with my camera and I took these pictures of the beautiful tulips that Oma and Opa got for us when they were in town.  I think the pictures look pretty good.

Beautiful Day

Today is supposed to be 71 degrees.  Hip Hip Hooray.  Yesterday it was 65 or something.  Samuel and I went for what was supposed to be a walk yesterday, but it was so nice I decided to run.  The problem was that I didn't wear my running socks.  Bad idea to run.  I have 2 huge blisters on each one of my heels.  We got a running stroller about a week ago and it is pretty nice.  I don't know if all running strollers are like this, but the front wheel doesn't rotate, so it is difficult to make a turn when you are walking, but it is fine when you are running.  Anyway, this particular running stroller has a place where you can plug in your ipod and it has speakers.  So, I pulled in my ipod and Samuel and I headed out.  I was running and jammin' to music and Samuel was chillin', eating goldfish crackers and jammin' to the music.  It was actually a lot of fun.

I have been trying to do a few workout tapes in the morning too.  I figure if I can't get to the gym at least I get a fun cardio workout.

Today we are going to Stay and Play and then I figure when Dave comes home we will try to go for a walk because it is going to be way too nice.

Last night we had swimming lessons and Samuel loved it.  He tried to blow bubbles and kicked his little legs.  I got to read for 30 minutes while the boys were in the pool.  Now that was nice.

I need to empty the dishwasher, shower and get ready to go in the next 45 minutes before I have to wake up Samuel.

Pictures from the weekend

Dave and I went out last night to Citizen Kane's for dinner, then we had drinks at a wine bar and then finally we went to see the movie Taken.  We had a great evening.  We needed a night out.

Now I am making a grocery list and trying to figure out meals for the week.

Here are some pictures:

Great Day yesterday

I had a great day yesterday.  Now only was it gorgeous out I was busy all day.

In the morning I went and worked out at the gym.  My butt is killing me today.  I knew I was forgetting something when I left for the gym, but I couldn't figure out what it was.  (I was going to shower after I worked out).  As I was driving, I realized that I forgot my brushes, so I stopped at Walgreens and got a brush.  I had a great workout and was in the locker room emptying out my bag and I realized that I forgot my bra.  I was so pissed.  I had a whole afternoon or things planned but there was no way I was going to run around without a bra.  So after I had lunch with Dave, uncomfortably bra-less, I ran home and got it.  Then I went to Hancock Fabrics to get some fabric for Samuel's rocking chair because I need to fix the seat.

After the fabric store, I got my haircut, which by the way I think looks great.  Maybe I will take a picture tonight.  I don't really like pictures of myself, but I may post one.

After my haircut, I went to the salon and got my eyebrows and bikini waxed.  It was an awesome day.  It was so nice to pamper myself.

Tonight, Dave and I are going out.  I planned an evening, so I can't post about it because he only knows that we are going out.  I have to be ready to leave by 5:40.  It will be nice to go out for the evening.

Well, I am off to relax for a little while before I have to get ready.

Day of Freedom

I am trying to figure out all the errands I am going to run today.  I had a cup of coffee without interruption from Samuel and now I am checking email and relaxing.

I think I will go to the gym and then Dave and I are going to lunch just the two of us.

Well, I am off.  Have a great Friday.

11 months old

I can't believe it, but I have an 11 month old.  He is getting so big.  Last night we went to his swimming lesson.  I would post pictures, but Dave told me I wasn't allowed to because he was in the water with Samuel.  I know they both had fun.  I am thinking I will bring a book from now on and read for 30 minutes while they are doing their lesson.  I am also trying to talk Dave into just taking Samuel by himself that way I would get about a hour or so at home alone.  We will see.

I have lots of errands to run today.

Oh by the way, I joined Facebook.  I can't really believe how many people are on there.  Crazy.  I feel so old and totally out of the loop.

Here are some pictures:

He is making baskets!

Facebook

What do you guys think about Facebook?  I have gotten several requests to be friends of people I know on Facebook (including just recently Jamie.  Hi Jamie!), but I don't know if I should sign up.

Updates

Update:

The food I made for the Super Bowl was yummy. The Buffalo Chicken Wings were really good and everything else was tasty.

Samuel is better, but still not 100% healthy.  I am not taking him to Stay and Play today.  Hopefully by tomorrow he will be healthy enough to go to swimming lessons.

I am now on 2 waiting lists for Mothers Day Out programs.  I am super nervous about taking Samuel, but I figure if it is one day a week, he can handle it and so can I.

I called to set up appointments for this Friday.  My spa lady doesn't have an opening on Friday for a facial.  Boo.  I am upset, but I guess I can deal with it.  I changed my haircut appointment from next Tuesday to this Friday.  I figured I would try to get as much in that day without having Samuel around.    Maybe I will do a little shopping too and go to the gym.  I haven't really decided.

I have been terrible about taking pictures of Samuel this month.  In 2 days he will be 11 months.  I can't believe it.

Here are a few pictures.  Samuel does not wear socks anymore around the house.  He hates it.  I think he likes to have bare feet to help him get ready to walk.  He is taking a few steps, but that is about it.  The most steps he has taken at a time is 4.

This is his new monkey outfit.  I got it because our friends daughter Taylor had a birthday party and the theme was monkeys.  So, I got Samuel this outfit and even though we couldn't go to the party, I still put him in it so we could pretend like we were there.  (Dave hates the pants.  I have to agree, they are a little funny looking).

Here he is with his socks and of course the TV remote:

Super Bowl Sunday

You know, I really don't care that it is Super Bowl Sunday (other then the commercials).  I only care that Dave and I win the super bowl squares that he picked for us in the work pool.  When I was at the grocery store this morning I picked up some of the 3D glasses.  Hopefully we will see something cool on the commercials after the 2nd quarter.  Samuel thought I looked hilarious in the glasses.

Samuel is feeling much better.  He still has a cough, but his nose isn't running and he hasn't had a fever in a couple of days.  The only disgusting thing about his sickness is that the medication that they gave him makes his poops RED.  I mean really red, it is disgusting.  I thought you all might want to know that detail :)

This morning I finally took George for a walk.  It was a little difficult because there were lots of black ice and the sidewalks were sheets of ice.  I was slipping all over the place.  It wasn't much of a workout for me, but George loved it.

Since we can't go anywhere for Super Bowl Sunday, I have decided that I will try to make a few things myself.  I am going to make chicken wings, queso, french onion dip and lots of veggies.  I bought stuff to make a pizza too, but I think we may have enough food.

Oma and Opa are coming in town this coming up weekend.  Since Samuel has been so sick, I am in desperate need to get out of the house and have some alone time.  Oma is coming in a day early (Thursday night), so tomorrow when the salon and spa I go to opens, I am calling to see if I can get in for a wax and facial.  I'll let you all know the status.
