Not much is going on at the Glasser household.  None of us have been sleeping great.  I am tossing and turning all night, Dave is snoring and Samuel is screaming.  I don't know what our deals are.  I think Samuel is having bad dreams at night.  Last night he woke up screaming about 4 times, but he isn't really awake.  He will scream for about 30 seconds and then go right back to bed.  I don't know what the problem is.  I don't know what a little baby can be dreaming about.  Hopefully this will get better or else I am going to take him to the doctor, just to check him out and make sure he doesn't have an ear infection or something.  I don't think that is the problem because he is acting healthy, but if the waking up continues, we will be off to see the doctor.

Like I said, our life is a little boring right now.  I am going to eat some breakfast before Samuel wakes up.

Reprieve

Yesterday afternoon turned out to be great.  Samuel saved his life by taking a HUGE nap in the afternoon from 12:30 to 4.  He woke up in a great mood.  Then it started raining around 6, so Dave got to play a little golf and he was home early.  To top it all off, I finally finished the Twilight saga.  I have finished all four books.  They were very entertaining and I am really happy that I read them all.  I would recommend them to anyone who wants a fast reading, romantic, action packed book.

Well, Samuel work up again this morning at 5:45.  I am so not in the mood for these really morning wake up calls.  My morning started off a little earlier though.  Dave's alarm went off around 5:15.  I normally get up and go to the bathroom and then close Samuel's bedroom door, so we don't wake him up.  On my way to his room, I felt like snot of something was coming out of my nose.  I wiped my nose and then all of the sudden, my nose started gushing blood.  (I know you all wanted that visual picture today).  I ran to my bedroom, grabbed a ton of Kleenexes and laid down in bed.  Dave was up by then and was surprised at the amount of blood, as I was.  It was a little crazy.  It only took about 3 minutes for it to stop bleeding, but it was kind of crazy.  I feel fine this morning, I just wish I had had more time to sleep in.

On a happier note, Samuel started saying "please" yesterday, except he says "peeeease".  It is funny how, he already knows how to use it.  Yesterday, he ran upstairs to his bathroom and to the tub and said "bath".  He loves taking baths, but he has one the night before, so I told him, "sorry Samuel no bath tonight."  Then he said right away "peeeease".  It was really cute, but he still didn't get a bath.  This morning, I was drinking some juice and he looked at me and said "peeease".  How does he already know how to be manipulative?  (If the answer was coming from Dave, he would say he learned it from me, but I think not.)

I am so happy it is Friday.  I think we are going to go on a walk this morning, so I can get us both out of the house.  Have a great weekend.

Danger

I am having a very strong feeling that Samuel's life is in serious danger today.  He better watch out today because I am on my last nerve with him this morning.  I just keep looking at all the positives that have been occurring since 5:45 am.  When I walked into his room at 5:45 I was hoping that he was just cranky and I could rock him back to sleep, but when I walked into his room, he was sitting up and WIDE awake.  I thought that maybe we would be lucky and if I brought him into bed with us he would at least relax enough for us to get a few more minutes of shut eye.  I was very wrong.  He crawled all over us.  Every time I put my head on Dave's shoulder or on his arm or touched him in anyway, Samuel got upset and pushed me away from him.

I think I mentioned before that when Dave and I show each other any affection in front of Samuel he gets pretty jealous.  He likes for us to pick him up so he is right in the middle of us both and likes us to jump up and down.  He is so strange.  Anyway, this morning in bed, he wrapped his arms around us both and tried to jump up in down in bed.  It was pretty funny.  Again, I am trying to remember the good parts about this morning.

Since Samuel got up super early he was extremely cranky.  So around 8 I tried to put him down for a nap.  He only slept for about 45 minutes and was up and ready to go again.

I decided we should go outside for a little while.  (We are stuck at home until 12 because ADT is coming to fix our alarm system.)  Samuel got down on the deck and then proceeded to go over to my plants and yanked them out of the pots.  I could have killed him right then, but I decided I would spare his life for the moment and I brought him inside.  Then I proceeded to call Dave and tell him that he may not have a son when he returned this evening.  I am not having the greatest mommy day.  Plus, Dave is golfing after work today which makes my day even longer.  I hope it rains.

On a side note, I am just gave Samuel raisins for the first time (just at this exact moment) and he is loving them.  He is quiet and happy.  He can't stop shoving them in his mouth.  I don't really want to think about the repercussions of the amount of raisins I may give him today just to keep quiet.

I am done complaining.  I hope Samuel and I survive the day.

It seems like the days have just been flying by for the past few weeks.  Not much has been going on around here.

Yesterday when I was cooking dinner, Samuel was going nuts because he was hungry and ready to eat.  Dave and I were both in the kitchen and Samuel was pushing his highchair towards the table.  He had it turned around facing away from the table, but he was so ready to eat.  All of the sudden we looked over and he was sitting in his highchair.  I guess he taught himself how to get into it and he was sitting there patiently waiting for dinner.  I guess this will be a new thing because this morning I was making him oatmeal for breakfast and he ran over to his highchair and got in it again.  Pretty funny.

I am not sure what we are going to do today, but it is pretty nice out right now.

I am super boring lately.  Nothing new is going on and nothing really to talk about.  I am off to watch the Today show and relax a bit before starting the day.

What a Thursday

We had an interesting day yesterday.  Samuel ended up sleeping in until 8:15.  It was a really nice morning.  Then we decided to meet Andrea and Taylor at the park.  Before we went to the park we were hanging out at our house for a little bit and Samuel smacked his head into the corner of one of the cabinets in the kitchen.  He had a nice red mark above his right eye.  He quickly recovered and we headed to the park.  The park has a little water spraying area and we tried to get the kids to play there, but Samuel was more interested in running all over the place.  We stayed for about 45 minutes because he got really hot and we headed to lunch at St. Louis Bread.

As we were in line, Samuel threw up all over himself and my hand (because I tried to catch it, which was absolutely the most disgusting thing ever).  He has done this twice now.  When he gets really hot and worked up from running around he throws up.  He did it once when we were running around the house for about 30 minutes.  Poor guy.  He gets enough hydration, I just think he gets so overheated he just yacks.

So after he threw up and we ordered the food, I spilled a big glass of water all over the floor in front of the register.  They had to call for clean up.  Not my best moments yesterday at Bread Co.

After we headed home, Samuel was on the porch and decided that he was big enough to walk down the one stair himself.  Well, he face planted into the concrete and skinned his head up.  I was surprised that he didn't do more damage.

After the morning I couldn't wait to put him down for a nap.  Of all days, he only slept for an hour and half.

Dave golfed yesterday after work, so I was home with Samuel for the evening.  I took this video of him.  We were eating mexican food, which he loves.  He always tries to hide things when he is eating, this time he did a good job of hiding his spoon.  He also does this thing with his hands and shoulders when we ask him where he put something, you will see in the video.

I'm a slacker

I know I haven't been posting as often as I usually do, but I also haven't been doing anything around the house or at all really, except for reading.  I unfortunately decided I was going to break down and read Twilight (you the know book series by Stephanie Meyer).  That was a big mistake.  In one week I have read the first two books and I am restraining myself from starting the third one tonight.  The books are a perfect summer read or just a book to read when you think you have no time and then you realize you just spent your son's entire 3 hour nap reading these stupid books.  Since last Tuesday, I read two 500 plus page books.  They are good books.  I haven't read a book in a while that I couldn't put down.  So if you are interested, you should pick them up and read.  Twilight is the first book, then New Moon.  I will probably be starting Eclipse very soon.

Not only have I not been posting, but I haven't been cleaning the house or cooking dinner.  It has been rough around here.  By the time Samuel wakes up from his nap and I am racking my brain for dinner ideas.  Monday night we had frozen pizza and salad, Tuesday night we had Subway subs and tonight I made turkey dogs, turkey chili, french fries and salad.  I am quite a chef lately.  Hopefully, I will snap back into reality soon and start functioning again.

Dave and I had a date night this past Saturday.  We went to The Melting Pot for dinner.  We haven't been there in at least 6 or 7 years.  We really enjoyed the food.  Dinner took about 2 and a half hours and it was a nice break.  We ate so much.  I asked the waiter if he minded rolling us out to the car.  I was happy that I wore my stretchable jeans.  I usually have to unbutton my pants after that much food, but luckily I had a little room to spare.  Dave was surprised that I didn't unbutton my jeans at the restaurant.

That is about all we have been up to.

I am going to finish watching So You Think You Can Dance.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show.

Thank goodness it is Friday

I know I have been really bad about posting, but I do have a good excuse.  Samuel has had a fever for two days straight.  He didn't sleep at all on Wednesday and Thursday night and was up both days at 5:30 am.  I am so exhausted.  It is now 8:30 am and he is still asleep.  I think his lack of sleep has caught up with him.  If he isn't up by 9 though, I am going in to check on him because he has never slept in that late.  It is kind of overcast here and still kind of dark out, so that might be a reason why he is sleeping in.

Even though I have been exhausted, I still have found time to bake another delicious dessert.  I was watching the food network on Tuesday and Giada made this delicious looking Chocolate Chip Walnut Cupcakes.   They were very good.  I didn't put walnuts in them, because I am really not into cookies or cupcakes with nuts.  So being as tired as I have been, the cupcakes have really helped with my motivation to do things; like walking from the couch to the kitchen and back again.

Jonathan and Laura came over for dinner last night.  We made Marinated Flank Steak (thanks for the recipe Amiee):

You marinade 1.5 to 2 pounds of flank steak for at least one day or more in this marinade:
1/4 cup soy sauce (I use low sodium)
3 TBS honey
2 TBS white vinegar
1 1/2 TSP Garlic powder
1 1/2 TSP Powdered Ginger
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 bunch green onions, chopped.

We used Bison Flank Steak last night and it was delicious.

I also made an Oriental Sesame Coleslaw to go with it and it was so good.

Even though I was out of control full after dinner, Laura made a homemade apple pie for dessert.  Like I said earlier, I have been craving fruit desserts lately and this was the best homemade apple pie I have ever tasted.  I am trying to decide if I should allow myself to eat today considering how much I ate yesterday.  Who am I kidding, I will probably eat just as much today too.

Holiday Weekend

I can't believe that the holiday weekend is already over.  It really flew by.  We went to Michigan for the long weekend.  We left on Wednesday afternoon and drove the 8 hours to get there.  Both on the way to Michigan and on the way home Samuel only slept 1 hour total the entire ride.  I guess he is just not a car sleeper.  He doesn't seem like he is comfortable in his car seat.  I have seen those pillows that you can put around kids shoulders, like ones you use on an airplane, but I think Samuel is too young for that.  I can't see him using it.

We had a nice relaxing time in Michigan.  It was in the 70s the whole time and just beautiful.  My parents were there too, which made the trip really wonderful.

We were exhausted on Saturday when we drove back home and yesterday we didn't do anything.  It is amazing how exhausted I can be by just riding in the car.

I was really craving a dessert last night and I didn't want chocolate I wanted fruit, so I made this Berry Peach Cobbler.  I used whole milk instead of half and half and I couldn't find any sliced almonds in my pantry, so I just used slivered (sliced would have been better).  It was really delicious.

Samuel is obsessed with wearing Dave's shoes.  He tries to walk around in them all the time.  Last night we were finally able to get a picture before he fell:

Later I will try to post pictures from the weekend.
